Wildlife Sculpture 'Deer Crossing', Edition No. 3, Dated 1992 Description: The sculpture "Deer Crossing" captures the image of Colorado's majestic wildlife, the white-tailed deer. They are commonly found in the United States and Canada, and were once seriously threatened in certain areas. They are very abundant now, thanks to hunting restrictions and the lack of natural predators. Sculpture Theme: Deer Crossing depicts a herd of deer ambling across a cobblestone creekside. White-tailed deer are animals of the edge, constantly aware of their surrounding habitat. "The Herd is alerted by crackling brush in the woods, they hesitate for a moment - instinctively, they're not more than a few jumps from the bordering thickets". This realistic creation with exquisite detail, was created in wax by Sculpture Artist, Peter E.Tonella. The sculpture, was cast in the traditional lost wax process, and superbly finished with a multi-colored patina and paints.
