Description
Original GARY BASEMAN Caricature AL GORE as GOREZILLA Color Pencil and Paint On Paper - Framed Seen In 9/13/1993 Issue Of Time Magazine "Gorezilla Zaps The System" Approx Measurements: 14.25" x 14.5" (21.5" x 22" w/ Frame) A Must For Any Fan Of Al Gore, Gary Baseman, and Godzilla One Of A Kind Piece Item Description Original GARY BASEMAN Caricature - AL GORE as GOREZILLA. This piece comes framed and appears to be Colored Pencil and Paint on Paper with approximate measurements of 14.25" x 14.5" (21.5" x 22" framed). Gary Baseman was most likely commissioned by Time Magazine to create a piece for their article on Al Gore titled "Gorezilla Zaps The System" (9/13/1993). This piece is very fitting on Gore's VP job to reinvent government and this piece portrays Gore streamlining Washington's bloated federal bureaucracy Godzilla-Style. Hands down one of the best caricatures you'll ever see by a well-known artist. It has guide marks in pencil outside of the piece for magazine layout purposes as well as white paint on the right edge to blend in to the white pages of the magazine. The printed article and cover has been glued in the back of the frame for reference. A must for any fan of Gore, Baseman, and Godzilla. Shipping is Free within the Continental US. I accept Money Orders, Cashiers and Bank Checks, and Cash. Pickup is available in the Stamford, CT area. I have this auction set to only accept US bidders. If you live outside of the US and would like to bid or make an offer, please email. All payments must clear before pick-up. Gary Baseman is one of the most prolific and succesful contemporary artists working in the United States today. His diverse exposure includes illustrations for everything from the New York Times and Readers Digest to the popular Cranium board game. His paintings are part of the permanent collection at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC and the Museum of Modern Art in Rome, and he has had a number of gallery exhibitions worldwide. He has recently been designing toys for Critterbox and Sony Japan and -most visibly- is the creator of the Disney TV show Teacher's Pet, which has been turned into a feature film.
