Untitled Document About the Portrait: The portrait was painted by renowned performance artist Michael Israel using Benjamin Moore Aura Paint and framed by Larson-Juhl. The canvas used for the portrait measures 6’ wide x 6’ tall and is of the highest quality. Both Israel and Buffett have autographed the portrait. Buffett autographed twice: once spelling his name with paint and a second time with a black Sharpie marker. The portrait with frame measures approximately 7’ wide x 7’ tall x 2.25” deep. On Saturday, May 3rd, performance artist Michael Israel painted an original portrait of Warren Buffett as part of an “Art Concert” held at the Berkshire Hathaway Shareholders Meeting in Omaha, Nebraska. The portrait was created in less than 10 minutes using Benjamin Moore Aura paints. Israel performed to the music of U2 while employing his double-fisted paint style with other “unconventional techniques.” This painting is one of very few portraits of Warren Buffett in existence. It has been autographed by both Israel and Buffett and framed by Larson Juhl. Winner will also receive a CD of select images from the event – showing the portrait being painted from start to finish and then autographed by both Israel and Buffett. 100% of the winning bid will go to Girls Incorporated of Omaha, a 501(c)3 organization committed to its mission of “inspiring all girls to be strong, smart, and bold.SM” Medium: The portrait was painted using Benjamin Moore Aura Paints. These paints are 100-percent acrylic based, feature a waterborne colorant system and rely on proprietary technology – Color Lock ® - invented by Benjamin Moore. Color Lock eliminates the problem of the colorant inhibiting the performance of paint and helps to yield an ultra-premium coating with the color literally embedded in the binding agent. Framing: Larson-Juhl used three all-wood mouldings of the highest quality to frame the portrait. The first moulding – a float frame that allows the full canvas to show – is from the Silhouette collection (#343803). The middle moulding is a flat black frame from the Tribeca collection (#550285). The primary outer frame is an ornate gold and black moulding from the El Greco collection (#726854). The frames were joined using an underpinner system that allows for strong corners and no visible nailholes. Shipping: The portrait includes a custom-made wooden crate for shipping.
