Quilt measures 48" wide by 48" long.  It is machine made and machine quilted, and includes a sleeve on the back for hanging.   "Aurora" is one of the design series that was to become one of my best selling quilt patterns, Dancing Diagonals.   All the quilts in this series start with a fabric - something special and beautiful, and something that has a lot of potential to be explored through color and value.  The starting fabric that appears on the diagonal and in the border is a beautiful japanese style fabric of large mums on red.  Note how I placed the mums to make a scale progression down the diagonal.  Next I chose a graded fabric that moved from pinkish to dark red to further shade and emphasize the diagonal.  I chose a complimentary color scheme.  There is a reason Christmas colors look so good together - they're compliments!  Several red and green fabric with lots of curved diagonal lines complete the composition.  But that's just another starting point.  This piece is extensively free-motion machine quilted.  The mums are outline quilted over each petal.  In the shaded fabrics are quilted 'feathers'.  Swirling diagonal lines enhance much of the piece, and curvy straight lines complete the quilting in the green part of the border. This quilt also has 'art on the back'.   Several different fabrics that didn't make it into the quilt are composed into a backing.  Piece is signed by me.   The materials, time and workmanship in this piece place it's value in the $450-$500 range.  You will not be disappointed in this quilt - it is beautiful and will enhance any room in which it hangs.   All quilts are from a smoke-free and pet-free home.
